Easy Breakfast Recipe – 5 Minute, No Cook Muesli

5 Min No Cook Muesli

With a 5 minute prep time this is the perfect grab and go breakfast. I throw this together the night before I have an early flight because I know I won’t have time to eat at home and the breakfast options at the airport always leave me feeling worse than the 5 am wake up call. This is great for kids too because layering in all the good stuff is a bit like an arts and crafts project. Plus, it tastes amazing and it’s flexible. You can use whatever you have in the pantry to come up with a delicious, healthful breakfast that will easily keep you going until lunch. I have listed some options that are always present in my pantry but there’s no reason you can’t use whatever you like and whatever you have. I don’t usually need to sweeten it because the dried and fresh fruit are sweet enough but use honey or agave if you like it a bit sweeter.

I owe this effortlessly healthy breakfast idea to my friend April, who told me she makes this for herself and her little girl Kate every morning.

1 cup rolled or steel cut oats
Dried fruit – raisins, cranberries, golden berries, shredded coconut
1-2 tablespoons of nuts – cashews, pecans, walnuts, pistachios, almonds
1-2 tablespoons of seeds – chia, hemp, flax
Spices – Cinnamon, vanilla, cardamom
Fresh or frozen fruit – bananas, peaches, berries, pears
Milk – almond, or nut milk of your choice
Sweetener – honey, agave

Starting with the oats, layer all ingredients into a large mason jar. Cover ingredients with milk, plus a little more and refrigerate overnight. In the morning you may need to add a bit more milk if you like a wetter consistency. And voila, effortlessly healthy breakfast!
